About me
Medicine, Made Clear. Health, Built for Real Life.
I’ve spent my career caring for adults across internal medicine and cardiology, helping patients manage conditions such as:
Obesity and metabolic dysfunction
Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance
Hypertension and hyperlipidemia
Cardiovascular risk and heart disease prevention
Long-term lifestyle change for sustainable health
My clinical approach blends guideline-driven medicine with real-world application: nutrition, exercise, behavior change, and when appropriate, medications. I don’t chase trends. I rely on peer-reviewed research, major clinical guidelines, and years of hands-on patient care.
Before becoming a PA, I was a high school science teacher. That experience still shapes how I practice today. Teaching patients clearly, honestly, and without judgment is one of the most important parts of what I do.
1. Too much bad health information exists online.
Social media is flooded with extremes, fear-based messaging, and oversimplified solutions. Health shouldn’t feel like a guessing game.
2. Education changes outcomes.
I teach patients every day using trusted medical knowledge. I’ve seen how powerful understanding can be. When people know why something works, they’re far more likely to succeed.
3. Community matters.
Sustainable health doesn’t happen in isolation. I want this space to be a supportive, encouraging community focused on progress, not perfection.
This site is where clinical science meets everyday life.
I’ve reinvented myself more than once.
Before medicine, my path included being a high school biology teacher, graphic designer, photographer (I owned and operated my own photography studio), media specialist, car salesman, one-hour photo lab manager, nuclear chemist, and entrepreneur. I also built and ran Adventure Monkey, a cycling and photography business that combined my love of endurance sports and visual storytelling.
That variety of experiences shaped how I think, communicate, and connect with people. It taught me resilience, creativity, and how to meet individuals exactly where they are.
Health is rarely linear. Neither are lives.
When I’m not practicing medicine or creating educational content, you’ll usually find me:
Cycling
Working out and staying active
With a camera (I still sell photography at adventuremonkey.pixels.com)
Hanging out with my wife and dogs - Delores and Hank
Smoking or grilling meats
Enjoying great audio, great food, and good conversation
Cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs
I believe enjoying life and taking care of your health should go hand in hand.
Clear, evidence-based health education
Practical guidance for weight loss and metabolic health
Thoughtful discussions on longevity and preventive medicine
Occasional life lessons from someone who’s had to rebuild more than once
